The Moment I Almost Talked Myself Out of Showing Up
It started quietly. You know the feeling, right? That low-grade buzz of anxiety that says, “You should probably prepare more…” which quickly turns into, “What if you mess this up?” and then becomes, “Why did you think this was a good idea in the first place?” Yeah. That one.
I was preparing for my first ever online workshop, and the closer it got, the louder that voice became. I felt underprepared (even though I wasn’t). I imagined awkward silences, tech issues, forgetting my words — a full highlight reel of imagined embarrassment. Ever notice how your brain only rehearses disaster scenarios when it’s scared?
Here’s the thing. I didn’t need more content. I needed a different state. So I did what I teach others to do — I used hypnotherapy on myself.
I put myself into a deeply relaxed, focused state, the kind where your nervous system stops gripping the wheel and your subconscious is open to learning something new. Instead of trying to eliminate fear, I asked a different question: What experience do I actually want to have? Not “How do I be perfect?” or “How do I avoid mistakes?” but what if this could be fun, what if I met new people I genuinely enjoyed, and what if I learned something too?
How Hypnotherapy Shifted My Anxiety Into Confidence
As soon as I focused on that outcome, the pressure dropped. I rehearsed that experience every day leading up to the workshop — not the slides, but the feeling.
When the day arrived, I was calm, relaxed, and already enjoying myself while waiting for people to join. Did I mess up? Absolutely. And that “mistake” opened the door to a deeper explanation, a better conversation, and more engagement than I had planned. I met new people, learned something new, and had fun — exactly the experience I had trained my mind for.
That workshop didn’t just go well, it gave me something far more valuable: certainty. And certainty erases worry. Once your subconscious knows you can do something, it stops sounding the alarm.
So let me ask you — what would you use hypnotherapy for?
Public speaking, confidence, letting go of anxiety, or finally taking action on the thing you keep circling but never start? If you’re ready to make changes that actually last and shift how you show up now (not “someday”), let’s talk. You don’t need more willpower — you need alignment at the subconscious level. Book a session, start the shift, and let your nervous system breathe again.
If anxiety or overthinking keeps showing up in important moments, don’t wait for it to pass on its own. I host a free monthly self-hypnosis webinar every 2nd Wednesday at 7pm Eastern to help you build calm, confidence, and certainty from the inside out.
